Patient FAQs

Q: When should I come to PM Pediatrics?
PM Pediatrics is designed to complement a patient’s primary care physician. Q: What if I don’t have insurance or my insurance is not accepted at PM Pediatrics?
For those patients that are out of network or do not have insurance coverage, PM Pediatrics has a very simple and affordable payment policy based on the level of care required. Please call us for further details.

Q: Do I need an appointment at PM Pediatrics?
No appointment is necessary. All patients are seen on a walk-in basis in the order they arrive.

Q: How long will my child wait to see a doctor at PM Pediatrics?
Our priority is to get every patient seen as quickly as possible. While wait times do vary, our average wait time is approximately 20 minutes.

Q: How long will my visit take?
The length of your visit will depend on whether tests, x-rays, or procedures are being performed. Most of our patients are in the office for less than an hour.

Q: What hours are you open?
We are open 365 days a year.
All NY & NJ locations have the following hours:
Monday through Saturday: Noon - Midnight
Sundays & Select Holidays: 10AM - Midnight

We are also open on major holidays as well as other holiday periods. Please check our website prior to upcoming holidays to see when we will be open.

Q: If we have a pediatrician can PM Pediatrics still treat us?
Yes. PM Pediatrics is designed to complement a patient’s primary care physician. We offer a convenient and comfortable alternative to the Emergency Room for patients who need to be seen when their pediatrician’s office is closed, typically on weeknights, weekends, and holidays.

Q: Do I need a referral from my Doctor’s office?
Because we are an urgent care practice, no referral is necessary to be seen at PM Pediatrics. However, if your insurance is not listed under our accepted insurances, please contact your insurance carrier to verify eligibility and what is required for you to be seen at PM Pediatrics.

Q: Will my pediatrician know about this visit?
We view our relationship with primary care physicians as a partnership, working to provide the best care possible. To that end, PM Pediatrics:

  • Sends an electronic copy of the patient’s medical record, discharge instructions, and any other pertinent information to the primary care physician.
  • Instructs the patient to follow up with their primary care physician.

Q: Do you perform vaccinations or well child check-ups?
No, we do not offer wellness visits, physicals, school check-ups, or immunizations. These are services performed by your primary care physician, and PM Pediatrics believes that every child should have a primary care physician.

Q: How is PM Pediatrics different from other urgent care practices?
PM Pediatrics is different from other urgent care practices in the following ways:

  • We focus solely on the care and treatment of children and young adults.
  • We believe that children and young adults should have a medical home. To that end, PM Pediatrics will only see patients after hours, when their primary care physician’s offices are closed.

Q: What if I need to contact PM Pediatrics during the day?
The corporate offices for PM Pediatrics are open from 8:30am to 5:00pm, Monday thru Friday. The members of our corporate staff are available to answer any non-clinical questions you may have and can be reached at 516-869-0650.
